rhamphotheca: Indian Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) I know this looks like a fungi, but its actually a plant, one that lacks chlorophyll. They’re usually white, but may also be pinkish. Instead of gaining nutrients through photosynthesis, this plant “steals” nutrients from  various fungal mycorrhiza that have associations with trees. So, its basically a parasite.  Indian Pipes are found in temperate forested areas of North America, South America, and Asia. They get to be about 30 cm tall max.
